Nature Study & Journals

Whenever we go on a hike, we are bound to find things we want to know more about.  I have created a page with links for identification, but if you want to dig a little deeper and develop a better understanding of the natural world, the following resources may come in handy.

Nature Study Ideas

The Handbook of Nature Study by Anna Botsford Comstock
This is THE book for nature study.  Written in the early 1900's for use by teachers, it offers details on plants and animals that we would find close to home and suggests questions to ask children to lead them to closer observation.  Free, on-line version of the book here.
